How do I figure out the perfect ring size for me?
Full sizes from 5 to 11 are available and you can use the handy guide to know the right size for yourself. However, half sizes are not available in this product.

Are there any tips to take care of my jewelry?
If you are doing any rough work, it’s a good idea to avoid wearing jewelry and protect it from being exposed to chemicals, salt-water and chlorine. You also need to handle your ring by its shanks or edges and it should not be pulled off by its prongs. Very few stones like diamonds, rubies and sapphires can withstand high heat, so wherever possible don’t subject stones to extreme high heat. Always wear your perfume and hairspray before putting on jewelry as it can make the gemstones dull. You can use polishing cloth to clean the jewelry or use home ultrasonic but you will need to check if the gemstones can tolerate the chemicals used in it beforehand.

How to care for Sterling Silver?
When Silver is exposed to pollutants in air, which then get exacerbated by heat and moisture, gets tarnished and thus needs more maintenance. Thankfully the tarnish can be removed with the help of chemical tarnish removing solutions.

You can clean silver and remove oil and dirt by using a flannel cloth or 100% cotton, rubbing it very gently to avoid scratches. Special Sterling Silver cleaning cloth or soft bristle brush can be used too. Dirt from previous cleanings, paper and coarse fabrics can leave scratches on silver and hence have to be avoided.

How to look after gemstones?
Gemstones might be hard as rocks but they can be damaged due to improper handling, which is why you need to take proper care to ensure they look their best for years to come.

Hardest gemstone can be weakened and get damaged if it has inclusions that affect the crystal structure. Hence it’s a good idea to avoid wearing them while doing rigorous exercises. Avoid removing rings by pulling the stone as it can make it loose and you run the risk of losing it. Store your gemstones individually to stop harder stones from scratching softer ones. The same applies for gold and silver, which can be scratched by gemstones.

Soap and dust collects under gems in rings and has to be cleaned so that your gems shine. You can clean clear crystalline gemstones in a bowl of water with a bit of dish soap. Avoid using ultrasonic cleaner as it can damage many types of gemstones.

How to care for Cubic Zirconia?
You can keep your CZ shining by cleaning it with cotton or special cleaning cloths. Remove dirt using straight back and forth strokes but avoid circular motions that can scratch the surface. You can also use water and soap or a trusted cleaner to make your CZ shine.

You can also steam your CZ jewelry but you have to hold it directly over the steam stream. Use gloves and tongs during the procedure and when steamed, dry your CZ jewelry with a polishing cloth. Ultrasonic cleaners that are quite reasonable can be used too.

Your CZ jewelry should be stored in airtight, sealable plastic bag or a lined jewelry box.

What is Sterling Silver?
Often referred to as pure silver, it actually is a Silver alloy, which has 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metal, often copper. 99.9% Pure Silver is too soft for many uses. The base metal used in the alloy, hardens it so that it can retain its shape after use.

What is Cubic Zirconia?
Often used as a reasonable alternative to diamonds, it’s a synthetic crystalline substance. It’s the most popular diamond-like gem in the market because of its crystal clarity and brilliance. It’s a man made substance and should not be confused with Zircon gemstone. CZ is the crystalline form of metallic element Zirconium Dioxide, which along with powdered zirconium is melted at 4,982ºF to create CZ crystals.

How is the Quality
CZ is simulated to be flawless unlike diamonds and can be structured to be free of inclusions and very transparent. Cut, size and shape of CZ determine its brilliance like other gemstones and it also has its own grading scale like them.

CZ Vs Diamonds
Colorless CZ crystal can be indistinguishable from diamonds to the untrained eye, but it remains a simulated gemstone. Diamonds are hardest gemstones, 10 on Mohs scale of hardness while CZ is about 8.5. CZ is 75% heavier than diamond because of its denseness and it also has more flashes of color. Because of its transparency and high refractive index, CZ can resemble a diamond and since it doesn’t have cleavages, it’s less susceptible to breakages than diamonds.

What is Platinum?
It’s one of the most expensive precious metals and is 35 times rarer than gold. It’s so pure that it doesn’t tarnish, fade and it’s also durable and hypo-allergenic making it perfect for everyday wear.

What is a Platinum Plate?
Platinum plating is a process that gives jewelry more brilliant white, hard and scratch resistant surface. Sterling silver can tarnish but Platinum has strong anti-tarnish qualities, which makes it ideal coating for Sterling Silver jewelry.

Platinum plating can eliminate the need for regular cleaning and will enhance the durability and luster of your jewelry. However, it is plating at the end of the day and will wear off with use but your jewelry can be re-plated as easily when needed.

What is carat weight?
Carat describes the weight of a gemstone and equals 200 milligrams of actual weight. Total Carat Weight tells you the total weight of several stones used in a jewelry item.

Carat Weight Vs Size
Some gemstones and more dense than others, which means they carry more weight in a small size. That’s why carat weight differs from the size of a stone.

Why does Sterling Silver tarnish?
Silver is a metal that reacts with chemicals in the air or those that come in contact with it. Humidity can tarnish silver but you can do your best by avoiding things like wool, rubber bands, oil from hair and hands, chlorinated water, perfumes, air pollution and food items like onions, mayonnaise, salad dressing and salty foods.

But Sterling silver can be polished and buffed easily by a polishing cloth or buffing wheel that jeweler’s have.

Tarnishing can be delayed to a great extent by storing silver in zip lock bags with silica gels, which removes moisture from the air.

Cleaning your jewelry with warm water after use to remove oily residues can also delay tarnishing.

  2. Defrauded. This company fraudulently hit my credit card, twice now. I call customer service and the reps can’t understand English and I can not understand them either. I filed a complaint with the BBB and intend to file a small claims suit in MS. Do NOT purchase from this company, Sterlington Collection or Telebrands.
