P90X also called Power 90 Extreme is a home workout program developed by Tony Horton in association with Beachbody CEO Carl Daikeler, Beachbody Fitness Advisor Steve Edwards, nutritionist Carrie Wyatt, Creative Director Ned Farr, and workout video director Mason Bendewald of MEGA MACE productions.

P90X Pros

P90X is a great workout program for beginners as it will get your body in decent shape. The workout are not very long, they last from 35-45 minutes. The routine includes stretching, warming up, workout, and cool down all at the right times during a workout. It comes with a timer countdown on screen. Tony always motivates you during the program. Simply listening to him speak and showing you how you should do a certain movement/stretch, you will feel that he actually knows what he's talking about when it comes to fitness. He focuses on stretching, yoga, strength training, cardio, kicking/punching.

Billy Blanks PT 24/7 Pros

The gloves and bands used in PT24/7 keep resistance on your entire body through every movement that you make. This makes the workout program extremely effective. Most of the DVD’s are very challenging. In fact some DVD’s are more challenging than others. ”Cardio Burn” is cool and fun, “body blast” is good; “boot camp power” needs more cardio.

The exercises done in the P90X workout program can be extremely exhausting and onerous. These exercises may not be ideal for people who are overweight or who suffer from a pre-existing injury. The first few days of using the P90X can leave a person feeling sore. In order to prevent any kind of injury one can adjust his pace and alter the exercises according to one’s needs. The DVD recommends taking breaks, working at your pace, modifying exercises, etc. If followed in the right manner, the risks associated with this program vs. going to a gym or following another program are the same. Injuries take place when exercises are not performed in the right manner. The program goes thorough warm-ups, cool downs, and also explains how to modify the workout if it is difficult to follow.

Billy Blanks PT 24/7 Cons

If you are 5’3 and below you may have a hard time with the bands because they are too long and don’t’ add resistance. This program is not suitable for those who are short. Even if you try tying the bands in a knot to make them smaller you most likely will have trouble with your hands and the large gloves. It may be rather frustrating trying to manage the extra stuff.     1. I’ve got the PT24/7 training program and I’ve only just started using it. I used to keep in shape with kickboxing but with changes in lifestyle the flab has come back. Though I’ve started kickboxing, I can’t go as often as I used to so the PT24/7 is perfect for a quick workout at home.

      I have to say that so far the results have been great. The bands work really well and require minimal storage; unlike all the other equipment you need for a lot of other exercise routines.

      I can see why it would be a problem if you are short as you need the bands to be extended as much as possible when in guard to get the most benefit. For me at 5’10” they provide plenty of resistance so that at the end of each session when Billy Banks askes you to unclip them, you REALLY feel the difference as your movements have all tention released and you have a second wind of energy.

      I haven’t given it 5 stars purely because I have had no experience with any other training routines other than kickboxing, but as you can tell I’d DEFINATELY recommend PT24/7.

      Only advise I would give is to learn some stretches before you begin as although you can warm up with the basic CD, if you jump into any of the others, you will need to stretch before hand or you might pull something!

      I did a TRIPPLE session last night (Basic, Cardio & Ripped Core with a 5-10min break between each) and my arms are feeling great (as in they are slightly tired which means I know I have worked them out well).

      P.S. I’m 32 and 15st. I know that with Kickboxing alone doing 8 hours a week I can lose 1stone a month to begin with (I was the weight I am now when I originally started kickboxing). With this system and a balanced diet, I’m pretty darn sure you could easily do this if you stuck to the rotation calandar which I need to find :))
